Saskatoon Financial Wellness Specialists
4 Pillars started in 2002 to help Canadians deal with overwhelming debt. Today our Saskatoon clients get the same thing: clear advice about every option, and support after the debt is dealt with.
We work for you, not your creditors. Before you choose anyone to help with your debt, ask who they work for, how they get paid, and what support they offer once your debt is resolved.
From Broadway and Nutana to Stonebridge, Evergreen, Rosewood, Lakewood and Riversdale, and out to Warman and Martensville, Saskatoon has grown fast, and so have housing costs. Many households here depend on potash and uranium mining, agriculture, health care at the city’s hospitals, or the University of Saskatchewan and Sask Polytech, and a change in shifts, a layoff or a separation can make debt hard to manage. We start with your real numbers, then explain which options fit, from a tighter budget and money coaching and a debt management plan to a formal solution through a Licensed Insolvency Trustee. Your first consultation is free and confidential. See all of our services.
For a Saskatoon household with steady income but more unsecured debt than it can repay in full, a consumer proposal is often the first formal option to compare. You offer creditors part of what you owe over up to five years, interest-free, and you generally keep your assets. Only a Licensed Insolvency Trustee can file it, and your creditors vote on it. 4 Pillars is not a trustee. We help you prepare and connect you with one. How a consumer proposal works.
If your income is low and you have few assets, bankruptcy may be the more realistic route. Only a Licensed Insolvency Trustee can file it, and Saskatchewan law decides which assets you keep. We’ll go through what it would mean for you before you meet a trustee. Learn about bankruptcy.
A consolidation loan from your bank or credit union can combine several payments into one if your credit is still good, but it doesn’t reduce what you owe. Refinancing your home moves unsecured debt onto your property, so compare options for homeowners first. Once your debt is under control, we help with credit rebuilding.

It can. A bank you owe money to may be able to apply funds in your account against that debt. That’s why people are often advised to move their day-to-day banking to a different institution before filing. A trustee will explain the timing.
In a consumer proposal you generally keep your RRSP. In a bankruptcy, RRSPs are generally protected except for contributions made in the 12 months before filing. A trustee will confirm what applies to you.
