Robert’s Windsor-Essex Background

Robert earned his commerce degree at the University of Windsor. After a management role in retail, he trained as a tool maker and spent seven years at Valiant Machine & Tool and six years on the manufacturing side at Ford. When downsizing in the auto sector cost him his own job, he saw how many local families were under financial pressure, and in 2006 he opened the 4 Pillars office in Windsor. Today he works with clients across the county, including Leamington, Kingsville, Wheatley and Essex.

Robert’s Education

  • Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree – University of Windsor 1991
  • Certificate of Qualification: Tool Maker – St. Clair College 1995

Debt Relief in Leamington and Essex County

Leamington’s economy runs on greenhouses, farms, food processing and the Lake Erie shoreline, and income here often changes with the season. Hours can drop after harvest, a small business can have a slow summer, and a farm can have a bad year. When credit cards and lines of credit fill the gap, the balances can be hard to bring back down. Robert starts with what you actually earn across the whole year, then explains which options fit, from a tighter budget and money coaching and a debt management plan to a formal solution through a Licensed Insolvency Trustee. Consumer Proposal in Leamington

If your income can support a regular payment but not your full balances, a consumer proposal lets you offer creditors part of what you owe, paid over up to five years, and you generally keep your assets. Only a Licensed Insolvency Trustee can file one. 4 Pillars is not a trustee. Robert helps you prepare and connects you with one, and your creditors vote on the offer. How a consumer proposal works.

Bankruptcy in Leamington

If your income has dropped for the long term and you have few assets, bankruptcy may be the more realistic route. Only a Licensed Insolvency Trustee can file it, and Ontario law decides which assets you keep. Robert will go through what it would mean for your home, vehicle and tools before you meet a trustee. Learn about bankruptcy.

Debt Consolidation in Leamington

If your credit is still in good shape, a consolidation loan from your bank or credit union can roll several payments into one. Borrowing against your home or farmland moves unsecured debt onto your property and doesn’t reduce what you owe, so compare options for homeowners first. Once your debt is under control, we help with credit rebuilding.

Leamington Debt Questions

My greenhouse hours drop in the off-season. Can I still make proposal payments?

Yes, if the payment is set realistically. It should be based on what you can afford in your slowest months, not your busiest, so you don’t fall behind when hours are cut.

We own a farm near Kingsville or Wheatley. Can farm debts be dealt with?

Personal unsecured debts can usually be addressed. If you farm commercially, the federal Farm Debt Mediation Service is another option worth knowing about, and a trustee can explain how farm assets are treated.

I work for a small employer in Leamington. Will my boss find out?

Your employer usually isn’t told about a consumer proposal. The exception is a wage garnishment that’s already in place: the trustee will let your employer know it has to stop.

Do I have to drive to Windsor to meet Robert?

No. You can start by phone at (519) 969-8231, and Robert will let you know whether an in-person meeting is needed.
